Creative writer, Dr Tawnya Selene Renelle, and Paul Bristow, Director and Creative Producer of Magic Torch Comics, will lead an experimental writing experience where participants will be taken on a journey through queer heritage and identity. The stories, drawings, and texts that are created during the evening will be turned into a mini comic book.
Please bring an object to the workshop which represents your identity, your heritage, or your queer experience.
Please also bring your preferred method of writing and drawing (laptop, pen, coloured pens, paper, etc).
Dr Renelle will lead you through a series of creative exercises that will give you space to examine your object, your experiences, and your heritage. Paul will guide you on how stories can be turned into creative designs such as comic books.
The event is presented by the National Lottery Heritage Fund who will share information about how groups can apply for funding should they wish to create projects inspired by this evening’s event.
Everyone is welcome, however this event would be particularly beneficial for people who are part of a group interested in developing heritage projects.
